What is a Programming Language?

Unlike the markup language HTML or the stylesheet CSS, JavaScript is a programming language that instructs the computer on what tasks to perform.

Computers are complex digital devices that represent and process data in 0s and 1s, so they cannot understand human languages like English or Korean.

Therefore, a programming language is a lingua franca that sits at the midpoint between human and computer languages, understandable by both.

The example intToBinary function is one that converts the given values (1, 2, 4, 6, 80, 256) into binary numbers composed of 0s and 1s.

We will explain functions in more detail later on!
